On May 6th, 2016 my niece, Zelie Rose, was born into this world. She is almost two months ahead of our own child, who is due to arrive July 12th, 2016.
Being pregnant myself, it's a beautiful experience to witness a sister "lead the way". Both of us were lucky to be pregnant at the same time and experience, for the first time, the miracle of life inside ourselves. It's an unexplainable part of life: life!
The best part of photography is we get to capture the lives of those closest to us and, in a sense, grow closer to them. To not only see how such a small life can impact my sister and her husband, but the world, has given me the chance to understand more deeply what photos or videos do so well. Zelie reminds me to live in the moment, to cherish, relish, and savor the present. When I'm behind the camera, or editing photos, I can't help but be drawn into the present by appreciating the past. My life would not be the same if not for Zelie, and if not for this child in my womb. Already the baby that grows in my belly is changing my vision for how life should be lived. Life is constantly being sustained in existence by our Creator. It's fragile. Sweet. Beautiful.
Beautiful Zelie, you remind me to hold tight to, but also to let go of each moment and the precious memories we collect. If anything, the past is a reminder to BE in the now. To live. To breath.
Zelie, these photos remind me to see the beauty that surrounds me in each moment. Thanks for being such a rockstar and willing model!
